(VAR) Switzerland County 7, Rising Sun 0

Edited Switzerland County recap from coach David Todd: Switzerland County beat Rising Sun 7-0.  This was a very strong defensive effort by the entire Pacer defense.  Switz outshot the Shiners 32-15 overall and 16-7 with shots on goal.

The Pacers had balanced scoring as Austin Bosaw and Cooper Todd each had two goals while Cole Riley, Levi Curlin, and Ashton Purvis found the net as well.  Assists were credited to Ben Hicks, Cole Riley, Landon Duckworth, Jacob Williams and Todd.

Goalie Aiden Furnish had seven saves helping lead the Pacers to their third shutout of the year.  Switzerland County is now 5-3 with a conference record of 3-2.

(VAR) South Dearborn 3 (home), Connersville 2
SD 2-0 at half

Edited South Dearborn recap from coach Jonathan Wismann: South Dearborn came out strong against conference rival Connersville. The Knights were on their passing game and defense.

The midfield consisting of Jason Hail, Dana Lewis and Peyton Hill along with the back line of Gage Fenton, Austyn Tibbs, Hunter Garland and Easton Schumann held very strong for most of the game, only letting two goals in after the second half whistle blew.

Lewis scored first for the Knights off of a header sent by Ashton Cotton’s corner kick. The second goal came after Lewis made a drive to the goal off a cross by Garland.  Lewis followed his shot into the net after recovering the goalkeeper’s fumble. Hill nailed the game-winning goal off of another perfect corner kick by Cotton, driving the ball in hard from the six-yard line.

Wings Ben Cassini, Nakia Scruggs, Hunter Gates and Zeke Brooks helped hold the ball and regain possession. Brooks and Brodie Teke also played attacking midfield positions and each took a shot on goal and had a few drives of their own. Goalkeeper Logan Heeke had 5 saves on the day.

Edited Connersville recap from coach Mike Bottomley: The Spartans droped a conference game to South Dearborn 3-2. Scoring for the Spartans Jasper Martin and Jamie Abel.  Nolan Shawl added an assist.

(JV) Connersville 2, South Dearborn 1 (home)

Edited South Dearborn JV recap from coach Wismann: The SD JV played a very good half after the varsity match, losing to the Spartans 2-1. Hunter Gates secured a goal in response to the first Connersville netter.  It was a header set up by a corner kick taken by Austyn Tibbs.

The Knights defense held strong with Ben Cassini and Will Secrest leading. Gage Fenton, Tibbs and Camdyn Dausch did a great job holding a skilled Spartan offense to only a few shots and two goals. Due to a slowly dwindling but still robust injury list, many varsity players helped out in the JV half.

More recaps follow.
