Jac-Cen-Del blanks North Posey, host Providence to win regional

Varsity Boys Soccer, 1A Regional Semifinals and Championship at Providence- Saturday, October 19

Ninth ranked Jac-Cen-Del posted a 6-0 shutout over unranked North Posey in the semifinal round of 1A Regional 12 at Providence.

Eagle goals in the first half were scored by Ryan Wilson, Jacob Jines, Jon Landa and Tim Defranne. Second half goals were added by Defranne (assisted by Patrick Wagner) and DJ Brook.

The Eagles blanked No. 12 Providence 3-0 to capture the program’s second regional championship.  The other came in 2015.

Defranne scored the only goal of the first half.  In the second half, teammate Frederik Terhorst split the pipes then Defranne added his second netter as an insurance goal.

The No. 9 Eagles, now 18-1-2, advance to the Saturday, October 26 semi-state at Seymour.  Match time is 3 pm against No. 17 Indianapolis Lutheran.  The Saints also won their second ever boys soccer regional title.  The first came in 1999.  Lutheran secured the crown at Knightstown after beating the host Panthers 3-1 in the semis and No. 11 Greenwood Christian 2-0 in the finals.
