Shawe 3, Milan 2

Varsity Boys Soccer at Milan- Wednesday, October 2

Shawe 3, Milan 1

SM 1  2 – 3
MI  1  1 – 2

Shawe coach Cameron Willoughby:  Shawe secured a tough road win at Milan. The Hilloppers got out front early with a goal from Irving Ramirez-Rios just five minutes into the match which was assisted by Eric Liu. Milan answered back a short time later tying the game just four minutes later. The 1-1 score held through the first half.

In the second half, Shawe got back out front on a penalty kick that Jack Grote convertd. Milan again found a tying goal just about 10 minutes later.  It was 2-2.

In the final stages, the Hilloppers made a formation adjustment trying to push for the win. The move paid off. In the final two minutes, Gage Derman found Henry Grote for a header to beat the goalie putting the Hilloppers out front 3-2 in the closing moments and held on to win.

It was nice to get back on track. We have played a number of close games over the last couple weeks but weren’t able to secure a win.  These guys have been playing some better soccer over the last few weeks, but it wasn’t translating to wins. Hopefully, this win is one that will get the players to realize the adjustments they have been working on have made a difference.

Shawe reported stats:

  • Goals- Irving Ramirez-Rios, Jack Grote (PK), Henry Grote
  • Assists- Eric Liu, Gage Dermon
  • Corner kicks- SM 2, MI 3

  • Saves- SM Hunter Kennett 13

Milan information will be added when received.

We thank coach Willoughby for the match report.
