Top individual scores from coverage schools:

Franklin County- Adam Kelly 92.

Rushville- Jack Laker 89.

Edited recap from Connersville’s Jeff Martin- Connersville finished 2nd in a 10-team sectional field on a wet and rainy Monday at Elks Country Club in Richmond. The Spartans finished with a team score of 242, outdistancing 3rd place Union County by 9 strokes. Richmond won the event with 328, the same score the Spartans had at the Union County Invitational last week.

Senior Jonah Graham was the Sectional low-medalist, beating all golfers with a career-low 76. This has been a goal of Jonah since finishing 2nd overall as a sophomore. I was extremely proud of him. He was focused and determined and played the type of game he wanted. His score would have been a 74 had he not been assessed two, one-stroke penalties over a silly pick, clean and place rule.

Sophomore Cooper Kinney tied his career-low with a 78, good for 3rd overall. Cooper played a fantastic round and is peaking at the right time.  Sophomore Will Chalker finished with a respectable 87. Will played a solid round and beat everyone in his group.

Junior Dylan Thomas struggled a little with the wet course and came in with a 101 while senior Cole Martin shot another career-low finishing with a 102.  Dylan and Cole each have great potential and I have hopes each will be in the 90s or better at the regional.

The Spartans continue their season advancing to the Muncie Central Regional at The Player’s Club in Yorktown on Thursday.
