Edited recap from Connersville’s Jeff Martin- Connersville competed in the EIAC Boys Golf Conference Tournament at Willowbrook Country Club. The Spartans finished first among the eight conference teams claiming their first ever EIAC boys golf championship and first conference championship since 2009 when Connersville was a member of the Olympic Athletic Conference.

Senior Jonah Graham finished the tournament as low-medalist and EIAC MVP with a 77, the first Spartan to achieve that feat. Sophomore tandem of Cooper Kinney and Will Chalker finished with an 83 and 89 respectively to also earn all-conference. Kinney’s score was an 18 hole career-best and placed fifth. Will finished 9th overall.

Junior Dylan Thomas finished with a career-best 18 hole score of 92, barely missing All-Conference. He was followed by senior Cole Martin with a career-best 103.

We really came out to play and attacked the course well. We have worked tirelessly on our short game and scoring. A lot of our drills were very tedious, but the boys did not complain and did what they needed to do.  I want to give thanks to assistant coach JJ Huber for all his work throughout this season and helping get the boys ready for conference.  I was extremely proud of the boys and how hard they have been working.

I have been coaching Jonah since 7th grade and no one is more deserving to win Conference MVP. The countless hours he puts in each week on the golf course, outside of regular practice time, is the reason he is MVP. I was really proud of the scores from the other golfers as well. Our future looks bright!

South Dearborn’s Michelle Getz- The Knights were once again the runners up at the golf EIAC Conference Match at Willowbrook Country Club. For the third time in a row, the Knights came up a little short in their bid for the title. This match was in doubt right up until the final scores were tallied as SD and Connersville were battling it out for the win. In the end, the Knights fell to the Spartans by four, 341-345. Three of the Knights linksters earned All-Conference honors. Eli Hoffman finished with the second best score with an 80. Austin Thies was third best also with an 80 as a tie breaker was used to determine the places. Brady South secured the fourth best score with an 83.

Batesville’s Bryan Helvie- Batesville was led by Austin Pohlman with an 18-hole score of 87. He earned All-Conference placing seventh overall. Logan Fletcher was second on the team with a 95. Other Batesville scores included Dean Campbell (100), Jackson Wanstrath (101) and Jack Abplanalp (110).

We thank everyone who contributed to the recaps.
