Boys Golf Recaps from Saturday, April 17

There may be updates. Please check back.

Jennings County Invite

Top 3 of 10 scoring teams- Columbus North 299, Greensburg 321, Madison 327

Southwestern and Shawe also competed but had incomplete teams.

Edited recap from Greensburg’s Bryce Mize- Despite the cold, wet conditions, we were able to put together our best performance of the season. Ben was outstanding all day as he finished third overall with an even-par 71, despite making bogeys on his last three holes. He was in control of his golf ball, and the score certainly reflects that. Parker put together a very strong finish to post a back nine score of 35, and Abe, Devin, and Hunter were just consistent all day long. This is absolutely a step in the right direction.

Greensburg scoring- Ben Bausback 71 (3rd place), Parker Phillips 81, Abe Tebbe 83, Devin Winkler 86 and Hunter Springmeyer 93

Richmond’s Joe Moehring Invite
at Richmond Elks

Edited recap from Connersville’s Jeff Martin- The Spartans completed their rounds at Richmond’s Joe Moehring Invite with their lowest team invitational score of the season, finishing 6th out of 16 teams iwith a 246. Temperatures and wind made for a difficult day for all golfers.

After a slow start, senior Jonah Graham turned it around and finished with a 77, good for 3rd overall. Will Chalker turned in his best 18-hole score of the season with an 84. Cooper Kinney finished with a 90 and Dylan Thomas had an 18-hole personal best with a 95. Gavin Frank finished with a 116.

I’m so proud of the boys battling tough conditions and cold temperatures. Though we scored well, I feel we haven’t achieved our best golf yet.  We will continue to improve and feel great how much they have quickly come along in the past two weeks.  It was a great match to compare ourselves with many sectional opponents.  With hard work, we have a good shot at completing for the sectional title.  Assistant Coach JJ Huber and I will continue to work hard with the boys at practice and hope we can continue to bring our team score down even lower.

Edited recap from Franklin County’s Denny Dorrel- Franklin County started the 2021 season in Richmond and placed 14th with a score of 416.

Franklin County scoring- Adam Kelly 101, Kaden Erfman 103, Josh Bauman 106, Peyton McCreary 106 and Austin Hill 108.
