(BKT/MB-Sun) Shiners take 7th and 8th games at Switz

Vevay-  Rising Sun’s boys middle school basketball program was a double winner at Switzerland County on Thursday. 

In the seventh grade game, Rising Sun jumped out to a 19-9 first quarter lead.  In the second “inning”, the Shiners outscored Switz 2-0 to lead 21-9 at halftime.  RS used a 16-5 third quarter to blow the game open 37-14.  Switz was eight points better than Rising Sun in the fourth but the Shiners went on to win by 15, 42-27.

Rising Sun’s Nick Koons put up 19 points with three triples and Noah Pflum scored 15 with a pair of trifectas.  Jake Bovard, Brayden Bush, Wesley Rider and Cameron Unger all scored two.

For Switzerland County, Konkle posted 14 points, Gammons had three while two points each were turned in by Covington, Hall, Shaw, Tingle and White.

In the eighth grad game, the Shiners led 9-4 and 23-10 at the first two stops.  RS went up 33-16 after the third.  The Pacers trimmed the deficit a little in the fourth but Rising Sun won by 14, 39-25.

Turner of Rising Sun scored a game high 19 points and was perfect in nine tries at the free throw line.  Barnes followed with 10, Markland had four then it was Montgomery, McClellan and Gridley with two each.
