(webcast) Rising Sun 66, Switzerland Co. 57- Rivertown Round 1

Aurora- It was the second meeting this season for Switzerland County and Rising Sun. The Shiners won the December 11 confrontation on their home floor 49-41.  During Thursday’s rematch in the first round of the Rivertown Classic at South Dearborn, RS won again 66-57.

This game was part of our St. Elizabeth Dearborn Basketball Webcast Schedule and can be seen again in HD by clicking here.

Despite playing once before, no one really knew what to expect Thursday because six players from the two programs did not play during the first pairing.  That included each team’s leading scorer- Ben Hicks of the Swiss and Landon Cole of the Sun.

What fans saw was a game where the lead changed hands 11 times and wasn’t decided until the Shiners put the game away at the free throw line late.

Coach Travis Wrightsman’s Vevay crew got off to a good start, leading by five in the first quarter, before Rising Sun returned fire and traded leads four times.  Switz closed on a 5-0 run to post a 19-14 edge after eight minutes.

Long distance shooting by coach Brandon Snodgrass’ Shiner boys started another swap of four lead changes in the second stanza but, once again, it was the Pacers who led at the half 34-31.

Switz got 11 points during the first 16 minutes from Jacob Williams and nine from Bryce Wrightsman.  Landon Cole led RS with eight points while Chase Kuehn and Chris Bowne booked six each.
