Oldenburg 48, Franklin County 29

Brookville- The Oldenburg Academy Twisters pulled away late in the fourth quarter and held host Franklin County to just four points in the final period to beat the Wildcats 48-29 on Saturday.

Both teams started slowly as Oldenburg led just 8-4 after the first quarter.  Jake Johnson and Kris Hetzer each scored four points for the Twisters while the Wildcats got single field goals by  Bridger Bolos and Lucas Stacy.

After missing all 3-point attempts in the opening period, the Twisters found some success from the arc in the second quarter.  Andrew Oesterling, hitting better than 50 percent from distance for the season, hit a triple while Johnson made a pair of threes.  Johnson finished the half with 12 points helping OA to a 21-14 lead at intermission.

FC’s Josh Bauman and Jordan Floyd tickled the twine from the land of three in the quarter while Bolos hit the game’s only two free throw attempts for either team during the opening 16 minutes.

Johnson continued his hot shooting to open the second half.  He and Oesterling combined for three trifectas for the Twisters first 9 points as they built up a double digit advantage for the first time, 30-18.  Johnson added eight points in the stanza to raise his total to 20.  Oesterling put in six more as Oldenburg was up 35-25 with a quarter to go.

FC spread its scoring out in the third as five different Wildcats each recorded a field goal.  Freshman Chad Cox also hit a free throw to give him three points.

OA racked up 13 straight points to start the fourth.  The Wildcats were scoreless for the first six minutes of the quarter before Jordan Floyd netted the game’s final four points which saw the Twisters win by 19, 48-29.
