(VAR) South Decatur 12, Shawe 7 (home)

Edited recap from Shawe’s Geno Pawlak- Shawe Memorial stayed in it until the end, but South Decatur pulled away late to win 12-7. Mother Nature did everything she could to prevent the game from being played as both teams battled rain, sleet and snow at American Legion Post Number 9 Field.

The Cougars took an early lead in the first plating a run on a single, walk and hit batter. The Hilltoppers finally answered in the 4th scoring four. The big hit came off the bat of Charlie Liter, a 2-run double. South Decatur retook the lead in the 5th plating six runs on four hits. The young Hilltoppers did respond by tying the game 7-7 in the home 5th on hits by Hunter Kennett and Wyatt Nighter. The Cougars scored two in the 6th and three more in the 7th.

Nichter took the loss in relief. Kennett, Liter, Nichter and Zach Gish all had one hit each for Shawe.

We thank everyone who contributed to the recaps.
