Edited recap from Connersville’s Eric Myers- Connersville stole the lead late in an 8-7 victory over Richmond. The game was tied 7-7 with the Spartans batting in the top of the seventh. Gavin Jones doubled on a 2-0 count scoring one run.

Cody Friend collected four hits in five at bats to help lead the Spartans to victory. Friend singled in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings.

The Spartans opened up an early lead in the second when an error scored one run. Trailing 7-3, the Spartans scored three runs in the fourth to get within one. The offensive onslaught was led by Jones, Friend, and Gavin Pearson, all knocking in runs in the inning.

CHS evened things up at 7-7 in the top of the fifth when Chanler Fox’s sac fly scored a run.

Gavin Lynch earned the victory on the mound for Connersville. The lefty lasted two innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out five and walking one. Kaleb Sparks and Friend entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Friend recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Connersville.

Brayden Lykins started the game for Connersville. The fireballer went two innings, striking out five and walking one.

The Spartans scattered 15 hits. Friend, Jones, Chance Bentley, Pearson and Braxton Myers each managed multiple hits. Friend led with four hits in five at bats. Connersville stole five bases: two by Lynch, two by Friend and one by Myers.
