OLDENBURG ACADEMY ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Harlee Masavage of Oldenburg Academy

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Senior Guard
  • Submitted by: Eddie Johnson
  • Submitter’s position: Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Harlee played well against Jac-Cen-Del. She had 7 points and 2 steals. Her individual defensive effort is outstanding.
    Submitter’s personal accomplishments: Usually, Harlee is asked to guard the opponent’s best player or their most physical player. She does without hesitation.

Katie Johnson of Oldenburg Academy

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Sophomore Guard
  • Submitted by: Eddie Johnson
  • Submitter’s position: Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: In our game vs. Jac-Cen-Del, Katie had 17 points, 1 steal, 3 rebounds and 3 deflections.  She was also 100% from the free throw line and the 2-point field while going 66% from the 3-point arc.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Katie is ask to defend the opponent’s best guard. She does her job without hesitation.

Gigi Dreyer of Oldenburg Academy

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Senior Center
  • Submitted by: Eddie Johnson
  • Submitter’s position: Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Gigi is an undersized center who has success because of sheer determination. In the Jac-Cen-Del game, Gigi ripped down 6 defensive rebounds and 2 offensive rebounds. Gigi also had 6 points and 2 steals.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Gigi has the fight inside and we are getting to see more of it with every game. She is asked to guard the bigs every night. She does without hesitation and with success.

Emma Weberding of Oldenburg Academy

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Sophomre fForward
  • Submitted by: Eddie Johnson
  • Submitter’s position: Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Emma, like many of our players, has very little varsity experience. With that said, she has gotten better with every game. Emma had 6 defensive rebounds, 1 offensive rebound, 1 steal, 2 points and only 1 turnover against Jac-Cen-Del.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Emma is a great kid! She always smiles, listens very well and will continue to get better with time.

Abby Haverkos of Oldenburg Academy

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Junior Guard
  • Submitted by: Eddie Johnson
  • Submitter’s position: Head coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Abby doesn’t have much varsity experience from last year, but she is a starter this year and has done very well thus far. We know Abby will get better with every game. Against Jac-Cen-Del, she had 2 points, 3 defensive rebounds, 2 offensive rebounds, a steal and 3 deflections.
