SWITZERLAND COUNTY ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Jessie Duvall of Switzerland County

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Sophomore Guard
  • Submitted by: Mark Boggs
  • Submitter’s position: Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: In two wins last week, Jessie averaged per game, 9.5  points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Jessie is our point guard and brings her best every day she steps on the court. She is a playmaker who makes everyone around her better. Jessie has improved in every area this season and we continue to look for great things as the season proceeds.

Jaden Harrell of Switzerland County

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Sophomore Forward
  • Submitted by: Mark Boggs
  • Submitter’s position: Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: In two wins last week, Jaden averaged per game, 6 points and 7 rebounds. She had 11 rebounds alone vs. Rising Sun.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Jaden has really worked hard to improve her skills. She has been a pivotal piece to the Lady Pacers early season success, a versatile forward who can play anywhere on the court.

Maddie Duvall of Switzerland County

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Sophomore Guard

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Maddie averaged 7 points and 4 rebound per game in two wins last week. Maddie hit a crucial three-point shot and free throws down the stretch to finish the win against Franklin County.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Maddie is an all-out team player. She will do whatever is necessary to put her team in position to win. Maddie has evolved into an all-around player. Maddie definitely makes those around her better due to her all-out hustle and positive attitude.

Josie Meyer of Switzerland County

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Senior Forward
  • Submitted by: Mark Boggs
  • Submitter’s position: Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Josie averaged 11 points and 5 rebounds in the Lady Pacer wins over Rising Sun and Franklin County. Josie has been an integral part of our early season success.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Josie has a great attitude and mindset. She has worked extremely hard to improve herself on both sides of the basketball. In the Rising Sun game, Josie had 16 points on four, 3-point makes. Her senior leadership has been very strong.

Keirstan Oeffinger of Switzerland County

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Junior Guard
  • Submitted by: Mark Boggs
  • Submitter’s position: Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Keirstan has a great mindset defensively and is continuing to gain confidence on the offensive end. Against Franklin County, Keirstan scored 5 points, hit some very important free throws and played stellar defense throughout the entire game.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Keirstan is a kid who can guard the opposing team’s best player. She shows tenacity and toughness on the defensive end. Her elevated play is vital to the team’s success going forward.

Alisha Detmer of Switzerland County

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Swimming
  • Athlete’s year/position: Sophmore Swimmer
  • Submitted by: Eric Cole
  • Submitter’s position: Varsity Swim
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Alisha opened the season by setting two personal best times. She dropped 3% off her 50 Free and 5% off of her 500 free. This being the first meet of the season, Alisha had a tremendous outting.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Alisha is a very hard worker. She has demonstrated a commitment to this team and herself to achieve big things. I am very proud to be her coach.
  • Other information: From belly flopping off the blocks to a sectional qualifed time in the 500 already this year, it shows what a difference hard work makes.

Austin Wolf of Switzerland County

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Wrestling
  • Athlete’s year/position: Varsity 126 pounds and Team Captain
  • Submitted by: David Wolf

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Austin went 3-0 last week with 2 pins.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Austin continues to lead his team by example and works hard on and off the mat.

Jacob Wolf of Switzerland County

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Wrestling
  • Athlete’s year/position: Junior 132 pounds and Team Captain

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Jacob went 3-0 on the week!
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Jacob continues to work hard on and off the mat and strives to make his teammates better.

Mike Galbreath of Switzerland County

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Wrestling
  • Athlete’s year/position: Sophomore Heavyweight

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Mike was 3-0 for the week.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: As a first year wrestler, Mike was able to go 3-0 on the week pinning a semi-state qualifier. He’s a great worker and has a bright future.
