Lindsey Meyer of South Ripley

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Senior Forward
  • Submitted by: Matt McNew
  • Submitter’s position: Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: For the first three games of the season, Lindsey posted averages of 7.3 points, 6 rebounds and 2.7 assists.  She had a game and team high of 12 points vs. Austin in the season opener.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Lindsey has been stepping up as a senior leader for the Lady Raiders. She is a huge part of our young team. She has taken over the role as leader by filling up the stat sheets in each game.

Leire Gonzalez of South Ripley

  • Level/Sport: JV Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Junior Guard
  • Submitted by: Jeff Greiwe
  • Submitter’s position: JV Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Leire, an exchange student from Spain, has provided both the junior varsity and varsity teams with energy, enthusiasm and hustle. Against South Decatur in the varsity game, she entered the game in the second quarter with South Ripley holding a one point lead. Her defense caused several turnovers, helping the Raiders expand the lead to double digits going into halftime.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Leire provides a needed spark to both the JV and varsity teams when she enters the game. She is quickly becoming the best defensive player for both squads. She is a pleasure to coach with her positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Other information: Leire is the only player to hit a three pointer in both the JV and varsity games. She is a junior exchange student from Spain and is very fluent in English.
