ATHLETES OF THE WEEK- GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Athlete’s name: Keirstan Oeffinger, Switzerland County

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Freshman Guard

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Keirstan scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in a 60-35 win over South Decatur.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Keirstan has continued to come off the bench and provide a much needed spark for the Lady Pacers. She continues to work hard and improve daily.

Athlete’s name: Lexi Lay, Switzerland County

  • Athlete’s year/position: Junior Guard

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Lexi scored 18 points and grabbed 3 rebounds in a 47-40 win over Oldenburg. She was instrumental down the stretch for the Lady Pacers. She hit key free throws and played sound defense as well.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Lexi continues to do it all for the Lady Pacers. She is counted on to score the basketball, play defense and make intelligent decisions on the court. She has done an admirable job at these things.

Athlete’s name: McKenli Scudder, Switzerland County

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: McKenli scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in our 60-35 victory over South Decatur. McKenli has continued providing a spark for the Lady Pacers in her extended role on the perimeter.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: McKenli continues to get better day in and day out. This is a credit to her desire and attitude. She battled through some adversity early in the season but has continued to work hard and it shows.

Athlete’s name: Aleiah Thomas, Switzerland County

  • Athlete’s year/position: Sophomore Guard

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Aleiah scored 56 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and dished out 12 assists in 3 games this past week. Aleiah has been very instrumental all season for the Lady Pacers.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: I love Aleiah’s growth as a basketball player this season. She is always focused on by the opposing team but continues to work hard and score the basketball. She has done a great job on the court both in practice and in games.

Athlete’s name: Jody Breeck, Switzerland County

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Jody continues to be a huge presence for the Lady Pacers on the interior. She had double figures in rebounds twice this past week. She continues to step up and do all the little things for our team. She scored 6 points and had 10 rebounds in our win over South Decatur.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Jody is our only senior and will be recognized Thursday on Senior Night. She has been tremendous this season and represents Lady Pacer Basketball the ideal way.

Athlete’s name: Calleigh Powell, Switzerland County

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Calleigh had 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 1 assist in our 65-30 win over South Decatur. Calleigh has been our go-to girl when guarding the opposing team’s best scorer. She has been a huge addition this season to the Lady Pacers.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Calleigh will do whatever is asked of her to provide success for the team. She works hard to understand her opponents and does an admirable job preparing herself both mentally and physically. She has been an enormous asset to our program as continues to get better daily.

Athlete’s name: Aliyah Evans, Greensburg

  • Athlete’s year/position: Sophomore Forward

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Aliyah had 24 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists in a 63-45 victory over Batesville.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Both offensively and defensively, Aliyah stepped up and helped the Pirates clinch at least a share of the EIAC conference title!

Athlete’s name: Morgen Carroll, Jac-Cen-Del

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Morgen recorded 41 points, 22 rebounds and 6 steals in two wins last week.  She was 15-18 from the field and 11-14 from the free throw line.

Athlete’s name: (Seniors) Lilly Simon, Morgen Carroll and Baylee Dwenger, Jac-Cen-Del

  • Athlete’s year/position: Senior Class

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Lilly, Morgen and Baylee all were honored at our Senior Night basketball game last week.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: The trio has helped maintain and add to the basketball tradition at Jac-Cen-Del with their leadership and work ethic!
  • Other information: To date these young ladies have at record of 90-13 in their four years at JCD. I’m very proud of them!

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Mariah has continued her great play on both ends of the court. Offensively, she has scored 51 points in our last three games.

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Lilly has really shown why she was a McDonald’s All American Nominee the last 3 games. Playing on an injured ankle, she managed to score 52 points and dish out 21 assists.
  • Submitter’s personal comments:  Throughout this season and her career, Lilly is making a strong case for selection as an Indiana All-Star.

Athlete’s name: Lauren Thompson, Connersville

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Lauren scored 22 points in 2 games last week. She shot 6-11 from the 3-point line and was 2-4 on 2-point field goals.

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Marley scored 24 points in our 2 games vs Pendleton Heights and Rushville. In addition, she added 13 rebounds and 5 assists. She is the leading scorer for CHS this season averaging 15.4 points per game.
