ATHLETES OF THE WEEK- BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Athlete’s name: Tyler Koelling, East Central

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Tyler had 40 points in our 76-54 conference win at South Dearborn. He had 30 points at halftime which is a school record for points in a half.  His total of 40 is third all-time in EC history. Tyler was 14-22 in field goals, 11-13 in free throws plus had 5 rebounds and 2 assists . He followed that up with 18 points in a win over Harrison. He was 8-17 in field goals, 2-3 in free throws plus contributed 8 rebounds and 3 assists.

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Luke had 12 points (5-8 field goals and 3-4 free throws), 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks and 1 steal in our win against South Dearborn. In our win against Harrison, Luke had 21 points (9-13 field goals and 3-4 free throws), 6 rebounds and 1 block.

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Joe had 5 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists in our 2 wins last weekend.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Stats don’t tell the Kirchgassner story. Joe had a ton of rebounds last week and continues to be one of our best post feeders. But his leadership and importance to our defense do not go overlooked by his coaches and teammates. Joe gets the most out of his ability, is a great teammate, and we are very lucky to have him on our team!

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Nick had 43 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal last weekend. He had a season high of 25 points in our conference win against Switzerland County.

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Noah had 26 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in our games against Switzerland County and Edinburgh.

Athlete’s name: Brent Turner, Rising Sun

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Brent had 19 points, 24 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in our games against Switzerland County and Edinburgh.  In the Switzerland County game, Brent recorded his fifth double double of the season with 12 points and 15 rebounds. The 15 rebounds are a season high.

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Andrew scored 27 points in a home win vs. South Decatur.

Athlete’s name: Tyler Kramer, Southwestern

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Tyler had 49 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 6 steals in 2 wins last weekend.
  • Other information: Tyler is now averaging, 20.6 points per game, 85% free throws and 57% in 2-point field goals. He also has 26 assists, 39 steals and 73 rebounds in 16 games.

Athlete’s name: Jacob Ray, Rushville

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Boys Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Junior Center

  • Submitter’s position: Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Jacob scored 12 points and pulled down 9 rebounds vs. #1 New Castle. He followed that with an 8 point, 7 rebound game at Northeastern.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Jacob is continuing to improve week by week. He is going to be a key for our team moving forward.

Athlete’s name: Orrin Schmidt, Milan

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Boys Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Junior Forward

  • Athlete’s accomplishments: Orrin finished with a game high 23 points and 11 rebounds (9 offensive) in a 64-62 loss to South Ripley.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Our coaching staff couldn’t be happier with his progress this season. Keep up the great work!
