Readers’ favorite high school games & individual performances – Part 1

With the spring sports season on hold due to the coronavirus, we asked our audience to provide us with some of their favorite memorable high school games or individual performances there were part of as a player, coach or fan.   Here are some of those shared memories. Please share yours!  More installments will be coming.

Brandy Bastin- Matt Riehle of Milan winning the East Central Sectional and Warren Central Regional in the 400m dash last season.

Kyle Jolly- One of my most memorable games I was a part of was the South Ripley regional (boys) basketball game at Southridge vs Eastern Pekin. What a game that was, and talk about a memorable ending. I might just have to go back and watch that one just for fun.

Editor’s addition:  This was played March 14, 2015.  South Ripley won 57-56 at the buzzer.   Here is the link from our archives  This was the first basketball season we offered video and, at that time, we did not offer an HD replay.  It is in mobile quality…but still fun to watch.

Sara Wert- Milan’s (boys basketball) buzzer beater against Southwestern this year and winning the Ripley County Tourney after the 60 year drought come to mind!  Also, the Lady Indians softball sectional game in 2016 against Southwestern that went I believe 13 nerve wracking innings!  And their semi state game that went extra innings I believe in 2015.

Editor’s addition:  The Southwestern at Milan boys basketball game was played on January 31, 2020.  Here is a link to our archived video coverage.  There is an HD file and also a highlights file.

Editor’s addition: While we did not cover the Milan/Southwestern 13-inning softball game in 2016 where the Rebels won 3-2, we did cover the Milan/Switzerland County round one softball sectional game played May 24, 2016.  Milan won 3-2 in 7 innings.  Here is a link to our archived video coverage No HD replays were available from that season.
