Champion- South Dearborn (5-0)

South Dearborn match results:

  • Def. Delta 64-15
  • Def. Decatur Central 62-12
  • Def. Monroe Central 72-9
  • Def. Elwood 60-24
  • Def. Greenfield-Central 48-27

Edited narrative from South Dearborn assistant coach Arlis Boggs: “South Dearborn Wrestling changed up its schedule this year and headed north to the Elwood Super Duals (ten teams) to start the season. Head Coach George Gardner’s grapplers did not let him down. The Knights started with a big victory over Delta 64-15. South Dearborn did not slow down as the day progressed. The Knights defeated Decatur Central 62 to 12, then faced a small team from Monroe Central where SD won 72-9. Next up was the host Elwood Panthers. Once again, the Knights were victorious 60-24.”

“This set the final dual with South Dearborn taking on the other undefeated team, Greenfield-Central. Coach Gardner knew it would be a tough battle since the Cougars have a few wrestlers ranked in the preseason polls.  But coach Gardner had his Knights prepared for battle and, in the end, South Dearborn brought home the Elwood Super Duals Belt with a 48-27 win!”
