Evansville/New Castle- The SEI Local Sports area sent a total of 40 wrestlers to semi-state competition Saturday, 25 to New Castle and 15 to Evansville Reitz. After a long day at the two sites, only five will advance to the state finals.

The day was highlighted by one semi-state champion- senior Iyan Bass of Jennings County won at 190 pounds and remains undefeated on the season at 45-0.

Advancing from New Castle (regional place, season record):

• 106 (lbs)- Senior Kevin Condo of Franklin County (4th, 35-3)
• 145- Senior Nolan Feller of Franklin County (2nd, 39-5)
• 145- Junior Blake Giffin of South Dearborn (4th, 36-6)

Placing in the top six at New Castle but not advancing were Franklin County senior Alan Apsley at 120 (5th, 26-9), Lawrenceburg junior K.C. Hedger at 160 (6th, 34-6), Milan junior Jason Hawkins (6th, 31-7) and East Central junior Ricky Brown at 285 (5th, 41-5).

Advancing from Evansville Reitz:

• 182- Senior Ryan Fish of Madison (4th, 38-12)
• 190- Senior Iyan Bass of Jennings County (1st, 45-0)
