Silver Creek 3, Greensburg 0- 3A Regional Semis

Corydon- The Greensburg Lady Pirates, playing in their first volleyball regional since 1999, fell in three sets to the Silver Creek Lady Dragons on Saturday.  Final scores at the Corydon Central site were 25-16, 25-12 and 25-13.

Silver Creek bolted to an 11-2 start in the opening set.  Kiersten Cooper had three kills for Silver Creek while Katie Hawkins added a pair of putaways on back-to-back points.  Greensburg got back into the game quickly scoring when the Pirates went on an 8-1 run to close 12-10.  Aliyah Evans recorded three kills and a block for the Bucks as part of the spurt. Up 20-16, Silver Creek scored the set’s final five points, ending it on an ace by Macie Garrison, to win 25-16.  In game one for the Dragons, Cooper had five srikes while Karli Ware and Garrison each had four. Evans had three stingers for Greensburg while Anna West followed with two.

After Greensburg tied game two game at 3-3 on kills by Anna and Mary West, Silver Creek outscored the Pirates 12-2 to go up eight.  Cooper logged another three hammers during the run.  Silver Creek went on to take the second frame 25-12 led by seven kills from Cooper and four via Alisha Harbold.  Anna West had three killls for Greensburg while Mary West and Audrey Lawson both attacked two balls each for points..

Looking to end the match in three games, Silver Creek once again established control early. In a 13-2 start, Bella Hinton, Cooper and Harbold each had a pair of kills.  The Dragons led by as many as 14 before a brief trio of Pirate points, two coming on Anna West kills.  However, the Creek got back into the flow and eventually ended the set and the match on an ace by Hinton. The set three final was 25-13.  Cooper added 5 more kills to her stats while Anna West had 3 for Greensburg.

Two Lady Dragons were named our Whitewater Motor Company Players of the Match.  Kiersten Cooper added five more kills in the third set and helped lead Silver Creek to the 3-0 semifinal victory with 19 kills, 1-½, blocks, 5 digs and an ace.  Macie Garrison contributed 3 kills, 2 aces, 1-1/2 blocks, 12 digs and 36 assists.
