Lawrenceburg 3, Franklin Co. 0- 3A Sectional 29 Round 1

Batesville-  Lawrenceburg completed its first round 3A Sectional 29 match with Franklin County in relatively short order.  The Lady Tigers won 25-7, 25-17 and 25-13 to garner their 29th win of the season.

Up 11-6 in the opening game, Lawrenceburg outscored Franklin County 14-1 the rest of the way and cruised to a 25-7 victory.  Juliana Kemper led LHS with 4 kills while teammates Cora Taylor, Katy Wyly and McKenna Lorton also had multiple strikes.

Coach Jill Mergenthal’s Lady Wildcats had a better go of it in set two but couldn’t recover from a 13-4 deficit.  FC got as close as five, 20-15, but coach Staci Knigga’s Lady Tigers scored four straight points to regain control and eventually won 25-17.  For LHS, Cora Taylor was the top attacker in set two. Franklin County saw better play upfront with kills coming from Anna Sacksteder, Rachel Bischoff and Meredith Bohman.

Game three got off to a very competitive start.  The Brookville ladies had an early 5-4 lead and tied the set for a sixth time at 9-9.  However, the Lady Tigers erupted for nine consecutive points and finished off the night with a 25-13 W to take the match 3-0.  Sam Heiert had three aces in the closing stanza for the Orange and Black.

SEI Local Sports congratulates Lawrenceburg’s Cora Taylor and Juliana Kemper as our Whitewater Motor Company Players Of The Match.  Taylor logged 12 kills, 2 aces and 10 digs. Kemper posted 9 hammers, 3 aces and a block.
