Batesville- The Lady Bulldogs of Batesville were held to just four hits in a 4-0 shutout Friday at home by Rushville.
The Bulldogs’ Sam Miller was pitching a fine game of her own but a three-run sixth inning was enough to do in the Dogs. None of the runs were earned and neither was the solo run Rushville added on in the seventh as Batesville committed three costly errors in the game. Miller gave up seven hits, struck out one and walked none.
Hits for Batesville were recorded by Katie Thomas (double), Alyssa Dudley, Morgan Dreyer and Hannah Putnam.
Batesville’s reserves also were limited to just four hits and fell 11-2. Rushville scored six runs to start the game. The Bulldogs avoided the shutout with a pair of runs in the fourth. Holly Keck knocked in both runs on a double and also singled in the contest. The other Batesville hits were posted by Samantha Kirshner and Mary Fegley. Fegley was the pitcher of record for the B’ville reserves.
