Greensburg girls 4th at Warren Central Relays

The following is a varsity girls track report from Greensburg coach Katina Tekulve.  We thank her for the report.

Greensburg Girls Track & Field placed 4th in a highly competitive relay format meet hosted by Warren Central. With 54 points, he Lady Pirates were just 1 point behind Ben Davis and shy of 3rd place. Perry Meridian won with 76 points, 2nd Warren Central (62), Ben Davis 3rd (55), 5th Southport (46), 6th Bishop Chatard (44) and 7th Shelbyville (30).

Two meet relay champions were medalists for the evening. Lily Grimes and Anna West won the discus relay event and while Cathy Newhart, Julia Ankney, Cami Jones and Brenner Hanna were the champions of the Distance Medley Relay. The Lady Pirates also had 4 Runner Up Championship performances. Pole Vault team of Ellie Kramer and Koregan Kidd were just shy of winning their event based on the number of attempts they took. Both ladies cleared 8’6 which is a new PR for Kidd. Throwing duo Grimes and West placed 2nd in shot put. Distance crew composed of Hanna, Newhart, Jones, and Emma Wilmer placed 2nd in the 6400m Relay event. Brenner Hanna broke her own school record during her individual 1600m race with a 5:13.56 finish. The 3200m Relay team also placed 2nd with a similar group of Jones, Newhart, Lexi Huber and Hanna.

he Pirate Boys track squad participated in the Warren Central Relay Invitational on Friday. The home team was the overall winner, and the team was also challenged by Ben Davis, Perry Meridian, Ben Davis, Southport, Bishop Chatard and Shelbyville.

The relay format provide some shining moments for the Pirates. Tanner Yonts and Jesse Hunter combined their best shot put efforts for an overall second place finish. Yonts and John Redelman took fourth in the discus, and Daimon Austin and Luke Lozier were the fourth place team in the long jump, along with tying for fourth in the combined high jump event.
