Rushville ladies 7th at Pendleton Heights Invite

The following is an unedited varsity girls track report from Rushville coach Kara Westfall.  We thank her for the report.

Rushville Lady Lions Track and Field participated in the Pendleton Heights High School Invitational on Apr. 24. The rain harried the competition, but the team still placed well among difficult competition. The team placed 7th out of 10 with a team score of 27 points.

Ale Romero was Rushville’s top scorer the long jump with a jump of 12’11” and Jocelyn Geise also competed. Charity Griffith placed 2nd in the high jump competition with a height of 5’2” and Summer Stanley also competed. Isabella Runnebohm was the team’s top shot put thrower with a distance of 30’1″ and Viktoria Campbell also competed. Morgan Meyer placed 6th in the discus throw at 82′ and Geise also competed

In running events, the 4×800 meter relay team of Kaitlyn Shook, Sydney Orr, Josie Corum, and Brooke Leisure took 8th with 12:38. Maddi Turner placed 7th in the 110 meter hurdles and 7th in the 300 meter hurdles with times of 20.2 and 49.88 and Jayda Crowdus participated in the later. Heather Stanley and S. Stanley were competitors in the 100 meter dash.

Natalia Meza and Shook competed in the 1600 meter run with times of 6:15 and 6:33 respectively. The 4×100 meter relay team of Campbell, Josie Wagner, Crowdus, and S. Stanley competed with a time of 59.7. Shannon Dougherty placed 6th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:06 and Mari Romero also competed. Griffith placed 7th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:37 and Shook also competed.

S. Stanley and Wagner both competed in the 200 meter dash with times of 31.86 and 31.02. In the 3200 meter run, Meza placed 9th in 14:02. The competition was capped with the 4×400 meter relay team of Dougherty, Meza, Wagner, and Griffith placing 4th in 4:48.

The girls’ head track coach, Kara Westfall was pleased to see her team rise to the occasion of the more difficult competition.

“The girls did a great job competing tonight,” Westfall said. “It was good for them to see a lot of good competition that we don’t normally get to see and get a few personal bests.”
