Batesville girls 72, Greensburg 60; Bulldog boys 98-34

The following are unedited reports from Batesville track coach Lisa Gausman and Greensburg track coaches Katina Tekulve and Rich Bryant.

From Batesville coach Lisa Gausman:

Congratulations to both the men’s and the women’s Batesville Bulldog track teams as they opened their season last night with two victories at home against the Greensburg Pirates. As this spring weather has been much like spring, the night started out fairly mild, but quickly began to get colder and colder as the sun continued to set. The Bulldogs proved that they could compete in both conditions as they started out the night with victories in the first relay (4 x 800) and also ended the night with a double victory in the 4 x 400m relay. The ladies beat the Pirates by just 12 points 72-60, while the guys won convincingly 98-34.

There were 15 individual 1st place winners for the Bulldogs and they won all the relay events. Individuals that brought home a blue ribbon were:

  • Morgan Meyer-high jump(4’9″) and long jump(13’10”)
  • Stephanie Nobbe-Pole Vault(8’0″), 100m dash(13.19), 200m dash(27.28)

  • Zach Harmeyer-400m dash (55.59
  • Garrett Wagner-300m hurdles (42.84)
  • Quinten Gowdy-800m run (2:15.28)
  • Gavin Koester-200m dash(24.59)
  • 4 x 100m relays of: Gabby Gibbs, Taylor Rowlett, Morgan Meyer, Stephanie Nobbe (53.72) and Garrett Wagner, Dawson Lipperd, Gavin Koester, Jake Cruse
  • 4 x 400m relays of: Britany Venis, Taylor Rowlett, Emma Gausman, Haylee Harmeyer(4:38.72) and JJ Kuisel, Quinten Gowdy, Zach Harmeyer, Garrett Wagner(3:42.81)
