East Central 8, Batesville 0

The following is an unedited webcast game report from Mike Myers.  We thank him for the report.

The East Central Lady Trojans remained unbeaten in EIAC softball play Tuesday evening when they defeated visiting Batesville 8-0. The win moves East Central to 11-0 in conference play and 18-2 on the season.

This game was seen live as part of our spring schedule.  See it again archived in 720p HD by clicking here.

After a pitchers dual through the first two innings and half innings, the East Central bats erupted for 4 runs on 6 hits in the bottom of the third to give the host team enough runs to secure the victory. Batesville’s Kara Obermeyer was able to hold the EC offense at bay with 1 during the first two stanzas and recorded her only strikeout of the contest but small ball got it started for the Lady Trojans. Back-to-back bunt singles by Katilyn Leslie and Carson Bennett got runners on and Jessie Kincer recorded the first RBI with her single. A fielder’s choice out left two runners on base for Lindsay Henson when she hit her team leading eighth home run of the season. East Central stranded two runners in the third while the Batesville defense made some solid plays.

Batesville twice put the lead runner on base, Obermeyer in the 2nd, Sierra Cornn in the 6th but could not move them or the two other runners to reach base during the contest past second base. EC’s Megan Kincer was dominate all night in the circle as she stifled the Batesville bats recording 10 strikeouts with no walks while allowing two hits.

East Central added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth inning. The lone run in the fifth was scored by Henson while Kaitlin Zillick recorded the RBI. In the sixth, three Trojans scored while Ysa Fox plated one RBI and Whittni Howard added two RBIs. On the evening, East Central recorded 13 hits and had two walks. Megan Kincer recorded her 11th win of the season for the hosts.

SEI Local Sports congratulates East Central’s Megan Kincer and Lindsay Henson for being named our Whitewater Motor Company Players Of The Game.
