Greensburg 17, Batesville 2; JV Pirates 13-1

The following are unedited reports from Batesville coaches Randy Obermeyer and Stacey Kessens.  Greensburg Softball won both the varsity and JV games over Batesville Thursday.

The Batesville Lady Bulldog Softball team opened the season with a loss on Thursday night at Greensburg. The Bulldogs mustered just three hits on the game with one RBI, while the Pirates finished with 16 hits and 15 RBIs.

Paige Oldham finished the game with two walks. The three hits came from Ellie Waechter, Gabbi Garcia, and Sarah Wilson. The lone RBI came from Garcia in the first inning.
Kara Obermeyer pitched 2 strikeouts in the loss.
It was a tough way to open a season that has already seen four cancelled games and two outside practices. Between chasing the butterflies away, and getting used to the depth perception issues that practicing inside creates, the Bulldogs made good contact with the ball, just hit it right at Greensburg’s defense.

The JV Lady Bulldogs dropped the season opener 13-1 to the Greensburg Lady Pirates on Thursday evening. Paige Oldham singled to lead off the top of the 4th and came around to score for the Bulldogs lone run.

Oldham, Hannah Nunlist, and Chloe Saler each had one hit a piece. Oldham went all five innings on the mound in the loss.

Greensburg information was not available.

SEI Local Sports thanks Batesville coaches Randy Obermeyer and Stacey Kessens for the game information.
