On Thursday, Southwestern Softball defeated New Washington 18-5.

Karli Youngs was bad news for opposing pitchers on Thursday, driving in four on three hits to lead Southwestern Rebels Varsity past New Washington 18-5 on Thursday. Youngs drove in runs on a groundout in the second, a single in the third, and a single in the fourth.

New Washington opened up scoring in the first inning. New Washington scored one run when Minton singled.

In the bottom of the first inning, Southwestern Rebels Varsity tied things up at two. Laykn Wilson singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Southwestern Rebels Varsity pulled away for good with eight runs in the second inning. In the second Kayla Adkins singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs, Brittany Barnett singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Wilson singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Abby Fulton singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Kassey Worchester grounded out, scoring one run, and Youngs grounded out, scoring one run.

Wilson was the winning pitcher for Southwestern Rebels Varsity. She allowed four hits and three runs over three innings, striking out five. Abby Ralston threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Minton took the loss for New Washington. She surrendered 18 runs on 15 hits over three and a third innings, striking out three.

Southwestern Rebels Varsity racked up 15 hits in the game. Youngs, Ralston, Wilson, Fulton, and Kaitlin West each managed multiple hits for Southwestern Rebels Varsity. Ralston and Youngs each collected three hits to lead Southwestern Rebels Varsity.

Napier led New Washington with two hits in three at bats.

Southwestern is now 2-5.
