The following is an unedited girls varsity tennis report from Shawe coach Natalie Hill for the report.

Shawe girls tennis defeated South Dearborn 4 to 1.

#1 singles Megan Hesse lost 1-6, 3-6 to Madison Fentress.

#2 singles Katrena Gobert won 6-2, 7-5 over Sydney Yoe. “I am very proud of Katrena as she really battled to win the match in two sets”

#3 singles Kate Grote won 6-2, 6-0 over Ashley Stevenson

#1 doubles Abigail Hill and Phoebe Grote won 6-2, 6-4 over Brooklyn Cromer and Emily Seward

#2 doubles Kelly Hesse and Cayden Hambrick won 6-3, 6-0 over Lacey Horn and Danielle Martini

Coach Hill: “Megan put forth a hard fought effort against a very consistent, tough opponent. All of our girls stepped up tonight and played good tennis.”

In exhibition matches:

Sam Shaw lost 3-6 to Hailey Brandt and lost 2-6 to Kelsie Jackson

Devin Russell won 7-6 (7-3) over Brooklyn Halbig

Caroline Grote and Reyna Ortiz won 6-1 over Chloe Steigerwald and Jessalynn Suesz

Briseida Reyes and Reyna Ortiz won 6-0 in their doubles set
