The following are unedited girls varsity tennis reports from Franklin County’s Braydon Ertel and Connersville coach Chris Diericks.  We thank them for the reports.

(Franklin County) Franklin County took on Connersville on Monday, April 30, to conclude the conference regular season schedule. Franklin County came into the match with a perfect 6-0 conference record and looked to finish out with a perfect conference season. After coming out strong, the team never looked back and got the 5-0 win to secure the conference title.


  • #1 Singles Lilli Stewart (FC) beat Shaina Laughlin (C) 6-1, 6-0
  • #2 Singles Megan Routh (FC) beat Juliette Collins (C) 6-0, 6-4
  • #3 Singles Lauren Klei (FC) beat Grace Silcott (C) 6-0, 6-0
  • #1 Doubles Grace Moster and Katarina Sacksteder (FC) beat Cheyenne Harmeyer and Courtney James (C) 6-1, 6-1
  • #2 Doubles Maggie Brack and Taylor McCreary (FC) beat Kelsey Smith and Hanelle Burch (C) 6-0, 6-2

Lilli Stewart (#1 Singles) and Lauren Klei (#3 Singles) remain undefeated on the season.

(Connersville) The Lady Spartan tennis team was defeated 0-5 by the Lady Wildcats last night at Franklin County. Shaina Laughlin stepped up to number one singles but was unable to pull out a win, 1-6, 0-6. Juliette Collins fought for her number two singles spot, but ultimately lost 0-6, 4-6. Grace Silcott played hard at number three singles but fell 0-6, 0-6. On the doubles side of the courts, the number one doubles team of Cheyene Harmeyer and Courtney James had good shots but fell short, 1-6, 1-6. The number two doubles team of Kelsey Smith and Hannele Burch played well together, but could not come up with a win, 0-6, 2-6. Winning for JV was the doubles team of Abbi Stinger and Payton McFarland. The girls are next in action tonight against Hagerstown at home.
