The following is an unedited report from South Dearborn coach Jason Krause:

The Lady Knights welcomed the Connersville Spartans to the Knights tennis complex, in an EIAC matchup. In a hard fought battle, that saw three positions go into a third and decisive set, Connersville squeaked past with a 3-2 victory. Connersville’s number two doubles team of Kelsey Smith and Morgan Hauger took the first team point with a 0-6, 3-6 victory over South Dearborn’s Lacey Horn and Danielle Martini. The Knights evened the score when the duo of Brooklyn Cromer and Emily Seward defeated Cheyenne Harmeyer and Hannele Burch 6-0, 6-4 at number one. South Dearborn’s three singles player Ashley Stevenson battled back from a 1-6 loss in the first set to force a third set as she won 6-4, in the second set. Momentum went back and forth throughout the night, but eventually saw Connersville’s Juliette Collins take the third set 6-3, for the Spartans second team point. Knights number one singles player Madison Fentress came out strong and grabbed the momentum early, with great shot selections, as she took the first set 6-1. All the momentum that Fentress had in the first set, was short lived. Connersville’s Rylee Fuller flipped the second set winning 6-1. The third set went back and forth, neither player giving an inch. Fentress got an early break but Fuller battled back and eventually took the set 7-5 and sealed the match for the Spartans. South Dearborn’s number two singles player Sydney Yoe, started out strong and found rhythm, as she took the first set 6-3. Momentum slowly found its way towards the Spartans as Shaina Laughlin took the second set with the score of 6-3. Yoe found herself in a third set for the second time in this young season. Both players gave it their all, momentum was never out of reach of either player. Yoe eventually got a late brake and won 7-5, for the second point.

In junior varsity action singles players; Hailey Brandt won 6-3 at number one, Jennifer Wullenweber won 6-4 at number three, Sydney Brandt defeated her opponent 6-3 at six, Alexis Qualters, 6-2 at seven and Sarah Rutherford won 6-4 at eight singles.
