Batesville 5, Franklin County 0- 2A Sectional 27 Round 1

Girls Varsity Soccer, 2A Sectional 27 at Batesville- Tuesday, October 2

(Round 1) Batesville 5, Franklin County 0 (BA led 2-0 at half)

Batesville’s Kyle Laker- “Both teams fought hard throughout the game knowing that this could possibly be their last. Despite having 17 shots in the first half, the Lady Bulldogs struggled to find the back of the net. Shelby Pearson seemed to stop everything that was thrown her way for the first 33 minutes.”

“With 7 minutes remaining in the first half, Hailey Mohr made a hustle play after a nice cross from Carlie Werner to put Batesville on top. The Lady Bulldogs played add on with less than 2 minutes before the break. On Batesville’s eighth corner kick, Georgia Gratz played a perfect ball to the back post. Liz Heidlage lunged for the volley and put it in the back of the net. The Batesville defense limited the Lady Wildcats to one shot for the first half.”

“In the second half, Batesville scored three more times. Lauren Gutzwiller added the third goal on an assist from Ashley Nobbe. Mohr netted her second of the match on an unassisted goal with 15 minutes remaining. The fifth and final score came from a great assist by Gutzwiller who played it to Catherine Raab who was wide open in the 6-yard box. Heidlage, Denise Davalos, Abbey Prickel, Lily Meyer, Olive Cerniglia and goalkeeper Ellie Waechter stopped every counterattack that Franklin County attempted.”

We thank coach Laker for the match report.
