Osgood- Batesville Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade girls each picked up a road game win at Jac-Cen-Del Thursday.
The seventh grade Lady Bulldogs used a strong defensive performance in the second half to defeat the Lady Eagles 31-12.
Batesville was led in scoring by Sylvia Phillips and Julia Hunter who both had eight. Kristin Covert scored six which included a three pointer. Maddie Harsh also hit a three ball to help her team to improve to 3-0.
The eighth grade Lady Bulldogs returned to the win column with a 23-18 win over Jac-Cen-Del but it wasn’t easy. Batesville held leads of 7-3 and 11-7 after the first and second quarters respectively.
The Eagles used a 9-4 third period to take 16-15 edge into the fourth. But BMS bounced back, outscoring the JCD 8-2 in the fourth to win by five.
The Dogs’ Mary Catherine Barnett nailed a couple of triples in her eight point effort. Samantha Heidlage scored eight and grabbed six rebounds. Karsen Worthington contributed solid defense and had a timely steal in the fourth quarter. All 13 lady Bulldogs contributed to the win that raised the team’s record to 2-1.
