Switzerland County 44, Rising Sun 31- River Town Consolation

Aurora- For a second time this season, Switzerland County’s Lady Pacers were a winner over rival Rising Sun.  Act two of this season’s three-part series took place in the consolation game of the 2019 River Town Classic at South Dearborn.  Switz prevailed 44-31.

Coach Mark Boggs’ Pacers never trailed and led 13-6 after one quarter.  SC’s Aleiah Thomas got off to a great start with nine points.  Rising Sun’s Danyka Groover scored three.

Down by 12 in the second, coach Abby Friend’s Shiners did get back within a half dozen, 19-13, but were never within single digits after that.  Switz held a 26-15 advantage of the half.

While Thomas was held in check during the second eight-minute stretch, teammates Jaden Harrell and Rylee Hankins both posted four points and Josie Meyer connected on a 3-ball.  Groover dropped in another five points for RS.  Fellow Shiner Sydney Bostic hit a triple.

Through two quarters, Switz doubled up the Sun in rebounds, 16-8, including a 6-1 count on the offensive end.  That helped produce 12 additional shot opportunities for the Vevay gals.

By the end of the third, the Pacer point spread reached 17, 40-23.  When the final horn sounded, the margin of victory was 13, 44-31.

A key stat for Switzerland County was scoring 17 points off 23 Rising Sun turnovers.

Aleiah Thomas tallied 13 more points in the second half and finished with a game-high 22 points.  The Pacer junior was named our Whitewater Motor Company Player Of The Game.
