Oldenburg 65, Rising Sun 38

Oldenburg- A 21-nothing shutout in the third quarter by Oldenburg propelled the Lady Twisters to a 65-38 win over visiting Rising Sun Tuesday.

This game was seen live as part of our Highpoint Health Basketball Webcast Schedule and can be seen again in 720p HD by clicking here.

That 8-minute stretch following halftime was one in which eight different OA players contributed to their scoring.  Harlee Masavage had a modest four points to lead the group. Both Katie Johnson and Ashely Cornelius found success from behind the arc once.

Rising Sun’s Danyka Groover posted the game’s first four points but coach Eddie Johnson’s Twisters outscored the Shiners 21-5 to the first buzzer and led 21-9.  Hanna Hurm and Katie Kinker both recorded six points for OA. Maddi Wilson’s 3-point play was an additional highlight to the opening two field goals by Groover.

Down 26-13, coach Abby Friend’s Lady Shiners strung together six points to close the gap to 26-19. However, the hosts responded with the quarter’s final 10 points to lead 36-19.  Kinker and Clair Hollingsworth both converted the old-fashioned three with Kinker tallying seven points in all.  Johnson added five.  Groover’s six points were best in the period for the Sun.  Teammate Lindsay Montgomery accounted for the squad’s other four points.

Following the monsterous 21-0 third stanza by Oldenburg, Rising Sun scored 12 unanswered against a mix of regulars and subs for OA.  The two teams more or less traded points the rest of the way as Oldenburg won its third straight over Rising Sun, 65-38, and extended its current winning streak to four games.

SEI Local Sports congratulates Oldenburg’s Katie Kinker and Katie Johnson as our Whitewater Motor Company Players Of The Game. Kinker scored a game-high 19 points and Johnson followed with 13 points and played an excellent defensive game with 8 steals

Note- During the webcast, Kinker was reported as having 21 points.  Two of those points on a field goal from the third quarter belonged to Harlee Masavage.

OA’s Hanna Hurm 13 points while Danyka Groover and Lindsay Montgomery both finished with 16 for RS.
