Batesville’s 16-4 run from late first quarter through early third period was the difference in this one.  The Bulldogs and Wildcats went from a 15-15 tie to a 31-19 BHS lead.

Ellie Waechter’s two triples were first frame highlights for Batesville.  Kendall McCool hit a trey and a deuce for Franklin County.  It was 17-15 Bulldogs after eight minutes.

The Dogs outscored the Cats 10-4 in the second quarter thanks in part to a 3-pointer and 2-pointer by Gabi Garcia.  She led all scorers at the half with seven points.  Rebounds also played a factor in Batesville’s 27-19 lead through 16 minutes  BHS had a 24-13 advantage in total rebounds including a 9-2 edge on the offensive end.

Coach Darrick Cox’s Bulldogs held an eight to 12-point lead throughout the third and were up 36-25 at the stop.  Coach Doug Robertson’s Wildcats got within seven late in the fourth, but Batesville closed out the contest 47-38 to earn its 12th victory of the season.

In the second half, Waechter’s five points and Garcia’s four each gave them 11 for the evening.  Franklin County’s Kamryn McCool matched her six first-half points with a half dozen in the second act for a game-high 12 points.

SEI Local Sports congratulates Batesville’s Gabbi Garcia for being named our Whitewater Motor Company Player Of The Game.  In addition to her 11 points, she also had a team-high five assists and four steals.
