St. Leon- With the exception of the game’s opening field goal, East Central’s Lady Trojans never trailed against visiting Lawrenceburg Tuesday in a 55-33 EIAC win. The win keeps the Trojans tied with Franklin County at 8-1 in the conference with one game to play.
A 12-6 Trojan first quarter lead was expanded to 29-11 at the half and 48-17 through three quarters.
Defensive pressure was key for EC’s strong first that saw a lot of easy transition baskets. With a comfortable lead, the Trojans shifted to a zone in the second half. The EC “D” forced 24 turnovers and 26 deflections in 32 minutes of action.
Trojan coach Kevin Moore was high on the effort of junior Jenna Hountz and sophomore Sami Turner.
“They are really starting to play well together,” said Moore. “They both are so quick and find the open teammate really well in transition and in the half-court offense.”
Moore liked the effort throughout the game of his team but is looking for improvement in the rebounding department. He was also looking for other players to “step up” and score other than Hountz. He got that as the EC individual stats show:
