Rushville asst. coach Paul Barada- “The Rushville Lions came from behind once again to defeat the Greensburg Pirates 41-35 at Hinshaw Field. It was fitting that the Lions were led by their seniors in the last regular home season game of their career.”

“Senior Cameron Craig added to his career and single season rushing records with 163 yards, two touchdowns, and one two-point conversion. The 14 points scored by Craig also put him first all-time in scoring for Rushville, topping a mark set by Butterball Jones in 1956.”

“Senior Gage Rosenfeld was back in action for the Lions as well with three catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Rosenfeld also played most of the game at cornerback. Senior Mason Springman added 144 yards of passing and two touchdown passes. However, it was on defense where Springman made the play that saved the game.”

“With under two minutes to play, Greensburg had the ball inside the Rushville 5-yard line and was poised to tie the game and possibly go ahead with very little time remaining. From his cornerback position, Springman stripped the ball from a Greensburg runner, sealing the victory for the Lions.”

“Defensively, the Lions were led by junior linebacker Hunter Applegate who had 12 total tackles on the night.”

Rushville head coach Dan Rector- “I am so proud of the toughness and leadership of our seniors in their final game at Hinshaw Field.   Time and time again, that group of young man has shown our underclassmen how to fight, believe in each other, and never give up.“
