East Central and Connersville compete at Flash Rock Invite

Varsity Cross Country at Flash Rock Invite in Carmel- Saturday, September 15

East Central and Connnersville information.

East Central’s Fr. Jonathan Meyer (asst. coach)- “The Flash Rock Invitational is a very large cross country race hosted in Carmel. There were over 45 schools present. When you double that number with both boys and girls running, it is a huge amount of participants.  Due to the large size of the meet, they break the varsity teams into two categories- “Elite” and “Invitational” varsity.”

“The Elite race boasted 15 of the top 25 teams in the state.  The Trojan boys had the honor of running in this race and placed 14th out of 15 teams. This is the first yearthe boys participated in the Elite race. Taking 14th may not sound all that impressive; however, when you realize they were competing against the best teams in the state (Carmel, Cathedral, North Central, etc.), their placement is respectable. Kyle Gutfreund led the Trojans followed by Michael Schwebach, Garrett Ardis, Griffin Werner and Anders Fox.”

“The girls placed 5th out of 15 teams in the Invitational race. They were beat by Norwell, Center Grove, Hamilton Southeastern, and Pendleton Heights.  This placement advances them into the Elite race next year. The ladies were led by Emilee Wedding followed by Emma fey, Lauren Greiwe, Halle Davis, and Lacey Kelly.”

Overall, the Trojans ran well today. Several had their season best times. Griffin Werner, Kyle Schuman, Halle Davis and Lacey Kelly got personal records. The course in Carmel is challenging so there is still room for even more improvement.”

Connersville information:

Both Connersville teams competed in the Invitational race.  The boys placed 16th out of 20 teams.  Adam Arndt led the Spartans in 45th place with a time of 18:49.  The girls placed 12th out of 15 teams. Tylissa Beckner was the top Lady Spartan finishing 19th in 21:46.

We thank Fr. Meyer of East Central and additional online reports for the meet results.
