Versailles- Thursday was South Ripley’s annual Great Pumpkin Cross Country Invitational. Switzerland County won the boys meet and Lawrenceburg took the girls. Individual winners were Alan Apsley of Franklin County in 17:24 and Isabella Gramaglia of South Ripley in 20:53.
In boys competition, it was a clear-cut victory for the Pacers with 38 points. Second, third and fourth were separated by only eight points: Rising Sun 65, Franklin County 68 and South Ripley 73. Apsley was trailed closely by the Pacers’ Braden Burk who finished eight seconds back (17:32) and the Shiners’ Garrett Craig 14 seconds off the lead (17:38).
For the girls, Lawrenceburg’s 60 points narrowly was enough to hold off Jac-Cen-Del and Switzerland County who both scored 65. The Eagles took second on a sixth runner tie breaker as it had a sixth runner. The Pacers did not. Gramaglia was a three second winner over the Tigers’ Flor Lopez (20:56). The next closest finisher was nearly a minute back.
