Providence 7, Rising Sun 0; Pioneers win regional title

Clarksville- Providence defeated Rising Sun 7-0 in the IHSAA Boys Class 1A Regional Saturday night.  It was the sixth regional title in seven years for the Pioneers.

This match was seen live as part of our Margaret Mary Health Fall Webcast Schedule.  See it again archived in 720p HD by clicking here.

Goals came very quickly for Providence as the Pioneers found the net three times in the first six minutes.  William Lutgens struck first at 39:22.  At 37:27, Luke Hesse scored on a header from an assist by Austin Hughes.  That duo would repeated the assist/head shot with 34:39 showing.

Evan Scott made a nice pass in the box to Alex Lancaster who tapped the ball past the keeper off the outside of his right foot.  It was 4-0 Pioneers with still 30:40 to go in the first half.  Providence’s Billy Hoke closed out the first half scoring (5-0) at the 16:16 mark when he scored via an assist by Lutgens.

Providence added two more goals in the second half, both by Hesse.  The latter included an assist by Hoke.

Luke Hesse and Austin Hughes of Providence were named our Co-Whitewater Motor Company Players of the Match.  Hesse scored four goals.  Hughes made two great passes to set up Hesse’s first two headers.
