Batesville 1, Franklin Co. 0; 2A Sectional 28 Semifinal

Wednesday, October 4 at Rushville

Boys Varsity Soccer- 2A Sectional 28 Semifinal

Batesville 1, Franklin County 0

Batesville coach Kyle Hunteman: “The beginning of the first half looked bad for Batesville. We came out flat and the Wildcats were driving hard for the win. We struggled to connect short passes and challenge for the ball. With 5:34 left in the first half, Michael Ripperger was fouled in the box which resulted in a penalty kick. He scored the PK and the Bulldogs had some momentum. Second half went much better than the first, although we were unable to put in another ball to the net. We outshot Franklin County 26 to 11 but couldn’t make it past the keeper.”

Franklin County coach Dan Gartenman: “The season ended in a heartbreaker. The only goal scored was from a penalty kick given to Batesville in the first half.”

Batesville will play Lawrenceburg Saturday at 2 pm in the sectional championship.  You can watch the match live on SEI Local Sports starting at 1:40 pm.  Lawrenceburg defeated Rushville 1-0 in the other semifinal.

SEI Local Sports thanks coaches Kyle Hunteman of Batesville and Dan Gartenman of Franklin County for the match information.
