(SOC/Tue) Tiger soccer fans will be turning heads in Evansville

Lawrenceburg-  Lawrenceburg Athletic Director Glen Crocker reports that both the girls and boys Tiger soccer teams be playing at the Evansville Soccer Complex located behind Roberts Arena this Saturday in semistate competition.

Coach Bill Offutt’s Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers (17-0-2) will take on sixth ranked Evansville Mater Dei (15-5-2) in the Evansville Harrison Semistate. Game time is 11 am Eastern time (10 am Central). Mater Dei defeated No. 12 Sullivan in the North Knox Regional 4-0.

The winner will take on either unranked Covenant Christian (10-5-5) or No. 1 Providence (18-0-2) in the semistate final at 7 pm Eastern (6 pm Central). Those two teams will play on an adjacent field at the same time of the Lawrenceburg/Mater Dei game. CC upset 13th rated Tri-West Hendricks 2-1 at the Park Tudor Regional while Providence beat Heritage Hills 4-0 at the Providence Regional.

Coach DeWayne Uhlman’s Lawrenceburg Tiger boys (15-4-1) will face Heritage Christian at 1 pm Eastern (12 pm Central) in the Evansville Central Semistate. HC, unranked at 10-7-2, defeated Centerville 5-1 at the Centerville Regional final.

The winner of that match will face the winner of No. 8 Greencastle (17-3) and No. 2 Evansville Mater Dei (15-5-1) in the semistate final at 7 pm Eastern (6 pm Central).  Those two teams will be playing on an adjacent field at the same time of the Lawrenceburg/Heritage Christian game.  Greencastle beat Covenant Christian 1-0 at the Greencastle Regional while Mater Dei defeated Gibson Southern 1-0 in a game that went to penalty kicks (4-3) at the Gibson Southern Regional.

SEI Local Sports wishes the best to both Lawrenceburg teams and hopes that Tiger fans will have to be looking back and forth at two fields with their orange and black playing in each semistate final at 7 pm.
