Boys Varsity Basketball at Rising Sun- Saturday, December 1

Rising Sun, South Decatur 42

  • RS  18  16/34  11/45  19/64
  • SD  05  07/12  11/23  19/42

Rising Sun’s Tim Phelps- “After a sluggish performance in Week 2 of the season, the Shiners started fast and never looked back against South Decatur. Hot shooting by seniors Wesley Rider and Nick Koons, who both scored 13 points in the first half, got the Shiners out to an 18-5 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and a 34-12 lead at halftime. Although the Cougars played the Shiners even in the second half, the fast start was too much for them to overcome. The Shiners were able to work in some of their more youthful players for the last 3 minutes of the game. The Cougars were led by Lane Lauderbaugh with 17 points, 14 of which came in the second half. The Shiners were once again led by Senior Nick Koons with 23 points going 6 for 6 from the free throw line. Seniors Wesley Rider and Noah Pflum each had 13 for the Shiners in the winning effort. Rider hit three 3-point field goals in the first half to ignite the Shiners.”

Freshman Jordan Parsons ignited the Shiners off the bench with a great defensive effort and scoring 6 points all in the fourth quarter.
