Batesville 62, South Dearborn 46; JV Bulldogs 53-38

Aurora- Any coach who roams the sidelines on their birthday wants a good present from their team.  Batesville delivered for coach Aaron Garrett as hia Bulldogs picked up the EIAC road win at South Dearborn, 62-46.

South Dearborn opened the game with a stifling 2-3 zone that extended pressure on the Batesville shooters. Using Senior Night emotions to their benefit, the Knights had a 6-0 lead early and a 9-4 advantage at the end of the first frame. Charlie Tedesco paced the Knights with six points in the quarter.

The second quarter saw the Knights remain in front early thanks to 3-pointers by Ethan Getz and Tyler Morehead. But they surrenedered the lead as Batesville amassed a 14-1 run to close the half and take a 29-16 advantage into intermission.

Robert Raver hit all six of his free throws on his way to eight points in the quarter while Tristain Lampert and Colt Meyer each chipped in five. The full court defensive pressure by the Bulldogs produced multiple turnovers and layup opportunities. Batesville also knocked down three, 3-pointers.

After the halftime, Batesville continued to extend its lead thanks to solid defense and knocking down open shots. Colt Meyer hit a pair of 3-balls and Walter Mattingly added six points for BHS.  Twice during the stanza, Batesville pushed its winning margin to 17.  South Dearborn tried to scrap back into the game but could not get the deficit under double digits.  John Tedesco and Ethan Getz had five points each in the quarter for SD but that didn’t keep the Bulldogs from going up 20, 52-32 with eight minutes to play.

In the final frame, Batesville played keep away to controll the ball and the lead.  The Bulldogs picked up their third EIAC win and 11th overall with a 62-46 victory.
