Rushville 11, North Decatur 4

The following is an unedited varsity baseball report from Rushville coach Kyle Harpring.  We thank him for the report.

The varsity baseball team extended their winning streak to five games on Friday evening, defeating North Decatur 11-4. The victory brought the club to 10-5 on the season.

The Lions scored single runs in the first and second to take an early lead. The Chargers responded with runs in the third and fourth to knot the game at two. Rushville blew the game open with six runs in the fifth and added three more in the sixth.

Rushville got a nice start from Gage Rosenfeld, who went the first four innings. He allowed four hits and two runs while striking out six and only walking one. Tyce Carroll tossed the fifth and sixth innings, giving up two hits and two runs (one earned). Jake Barnes closed the door in the seventh, allowing one hit and no runs. He struck out one. Carroll was the winning pitcher in relief.

The Lions got a total team effort offensively, as every player that came to the plate reached base at least once. Leading the way was Adam Leising, who reached base all four times (single, double, two walks), scored three runs, drove in three runs, and stole a base. Zach Hoeing (single, double, walk) and Aaron Duncan (single, double) also banged out two hits. Hoeing and Duncan each scored twice and each drove in a run. Cameron Craig added a double and an RBI. Jacob Ray contributed a run-scoring single, two walks, and two runs scored. Carroll and Rosenfeld also singled. Carroll drove in two runs and scored one.
