South Ripley 2, Switzerland County 1

In varsity baseball Wednesday in Versailles, South Ripley edged Switzerland County 2-1 in eight innings.  The Pacers outhit the Raiders 6-4.

Linkel of South Ripley had two hits while Franklin had the team’s only RBI.  Patrick Stow picked up a pair of hits for Switz and Cade Rider knocked in the team’s only run.

Halcomb pitched 7-2/3 innings to get the win and had seven strikeouts.  Welch earned the save.  Kenyon Bledsoe pitched 7-1/3 innings and took the loss.

Switzerland County coach Chad Combs: “Kenyon Bledsoe threw a great game against one of the better offensive lineups that we face.  He trusted his defense and stuck to our 9 vs 1 philosophy.  We are very proud of the effort of these young men!  Character is not always seen on the scoreboard.”

SEI Local Sports thanks coach Combs for the game information.
