South Dearborn 7, Jennings County 4

The following is an unedited varsity baseball report from South Dearborn’s Brad Fentress.  We thank him for the report.

Late clutch hits by the Knights forced an extra inning, where more clutch hitting resulted in a 7-4 victory over the Jennings County Panthers. Kane Curry’s 4th inning RBI double was the only run for SD through 6 2/3 innings. Then, with two outs in the 7th, Tristan Rinehart doubled in Ethan Getz and Brady Fentress to make the score 4-3. Getz had reached on his third single of the game and Fentress had walked. Then Jace Leonard hustled down the line to beat out an infield single, bringing up Adam Dixon. With his back up against the wall on an 0-2 pitch, Dixon hit a line drive into left field, driving home pinch runner Kasey McCabe with the tying run. In the 8th, Tyler Morehead led off with a single and was bunted to second by Tobie Teke. After Getz walked, Trey Thies came up and delivered another 2-out hit for the Knights to give them a 5-4 lead. That lead would grow to 6-4 on a Panther error, and eventually 7-4 on another Leonard single. Andy Dixon pitched 4 innings of 1-run baseball to earn the win, while Thies picked up the save.
