The following is an unedited varsity baseball report from Batesville coach Justin Tucker:

Batesville won big over East Central 11-1 on Monday in six innings via the ten run rule.

The Bulldogs got things started in the first inning, as they scored four runs on three walks and two hit by pitches. Caleb Raab was hit by a pitch and drove in a run during the inning.

Batesville scored five runs in the sixth inning. The Bulldog batters contributing to the big inning included Lane Oesterling, Sam Voegele, Joe Bohman, and Nate Slavin, all driving runs in the frame.

Oesterling was credited with the victory for the Bulldogs. He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out six and walking zero.

Kyle Merkin took the loss for East Central. He surrendered four runs on zero hits over one-third of an inning, striking out one.
Nate Slavin led the way for the Bulldogs with two hits in four at bats.

The win makes Batesville 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the EIAC.

Additional East Central information was not available.

Here is a junior varsity baseball report from Batesville assistant coach Jason Meyer:

The Bulldogs JV Baseball suffered their first loss of the season 13-7. Shane Meer got the loss despite only allowing 2 earned runs in 4 innings of work. The Bulldogs struggled in the field committing 6 errors. Offensively there were bright spots as the team combined for 8 hits including 2 each for Junior Right fielder Brayden Worthington and Freshman Riley Zink, both driving in 3 runs each.
