Tigers bow out with 31 wins in regional finals vs. Jasper

Ramsey-  Lawrenceburg scored four runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth during Saturday’s 3A North Harrison Regional Semifinal to beat Boonville 7-5.

The Tigers’ Austin Bowling was 2 for 3 with a double, a run and four runs batted in.  Eli Helton knocked in two runs with a triple and also scored once.  Trent Hughes singled and had one RBI. Clay Woeste logged a base hit and crossed the dish once.  Jordan Houze added a run and Tyler Preston contributed a base hit.

In the championship, the fourth ranked Tigers gave up only four hits to No. 2 Jasper, but the Wildcats prevailed 4-2 to claim the program’s 25th regional title.

Lawrenceburg scored a run in the first inning and held the 1-0 advantage until the Jasper fourth.  Tiger pitching walked the bases loaded.  A throw home on a one-out infield ground ball, which possibly could have ended the inning on a double play, missed the mark and two Jasper runs scored.  The Wildcats added one more run on a bunt single to go up 3-1.

Jasper picked up an insurance run on a sac fly in the top of the seventh.  Lawrenceburg scored one in the bottom of the seventh to make it 4-2.  LHS had two on with two out but could not get the tying run home.

Jasper advances to the 3A South Semi-State with a 29-4 record.  Lawrenceburg ends its season at 31-2, the most wins in program history and currently the most of any team in the state this season.
